Unless you can manufacture the funds, I don't see there is much you can do to change the decision. However, there is MUCH you can do to be ready: 1) treat this as a temporary project closing - complete any open documentation and attempt a lessons learned before the entire team is disbanded, 2) ask for assignment to a second smaller project. With #1, you are ready to restart on a fast track because everything that had to stop was documented and you know where you left off and what can be improved. With #2 you are still demonstrating value to the organization in completing its other projects. Saving Changes...
