For those who are specifically working in the Project Management Office (PMO) I'd like to understand how Big data is impacting your PMO and how do you plan to stay in competition?

What tools are being impacted within the PMO
How is the culture adjusting within the PMO due to Big Data and Technology
How are the projects being delivered within the PMO
What challenges are the Project Managers facing with Big data and technology advances
What are the successes of Project Managers facing with Big Data and Technology advances

I know it's many questions but I'm gathering this for research purposes and your insight would be helpful.

Big Data is a new term giving to a component inside the Data Warehouse environment. So, is not about Big Data. Is about the whole data management and the whole data architecture you put in place to manage things like Knowledge Management environments. The use some places were I worked from more than 20 years ago is to support. estimation, resource (all type) allocation, project prospectives to get low risk rates, knowled management at a whole (lessons learned, project requirements, etc) just to name some of them.

Thanks Sergio and your right Big Data is relatively new and it is about data management. Data management requires a project/ program framework though and this is where it will impact the PMO.

You are welcome. Just to comment, Big Data is not new. The name is new. What today is called Big Data is just a layer inside the Data Warehouse architecture. That was created in the 90 and I worked in IBM at this time. Some pople (young people not ancient like me....jejeje) do not know about that. If people know about that then most of the problems they are facing today would be solved. I recommeded people to search and read Teradata papers, not the new ones the old ones. Things that have emerges from that are Data Lakes which can be consider new things (while they were considered in the architecture in the past when you extract and consolidate data from multiple sources).
