Mr.Senthil, Good question to raise. I personally started finding more gaps due to digital disruptive effects on project management methodologies recently. Project Managers and team members started having real confusion in adapting to new methodologies and/or meeting the dynamic demands of the business. In that process, agility based project management methods overtook traditional methods and sometimes hybrid approach was followed.
Based on my experience with some organisations over the last two years, this actually led to more disparate systems in meeting business demands. This has cascaded effect of consuming more resources and thereby additional cost overheads. While "agility" is the way forward, most of the organisations still have their core systems that are closely coupled which requires traditional approaches. So to conclude I personally stick to traditional methods and enrich project management experience with "agile, kanban or any other latest" concepts.
