I am interested to know if there is anyone here are internal auditors who are dabbling/immersing in the PM profession. I am interested to know your thoughts and experiences. Saving Changes...
I've been on the responding side of IA audits of project delivery processes within a PMO. So long as auditors are auditing against a set of control objectives rather than against following a documented process rigidly, then there is much similarity to PMs who follow a set of principles for managing projects but recognize that "it depends" is the only correct answer for most general project management questions.

From auditing, I learned the organizational structure, vocabulary, policies and processes. The experience helped me deliver quality projects because I was familiar with related processes. Saving Changes...
In one of my previous role, I did not have a clue I was going to be tasked almost like an internal auditor for a specific accounting/finance process until after a few weeks of joining. I started with the mindset of PM-type work but towards the end of contract term, it all made sense why I was hired for it so yes, definitely would agree both can be complimentary in my case but am glad I had gained some PM skills beforehand.
Interesting discussion thank you for bringing up this topic Antonio.
