Ever since I got PMP certified in 2014, the total number of PMP holders has increased by 50%. How do you appraise the impact of this fact on the market value of PMP certification?

In my opinion, the more it's popular the more it's important and required. Aand also, it's so valuable to work with other PMPs so you can speak the same language and understand each other.
Unfortunaltely, I think the number of certified PMPs in my country is still low. Is there any official stats of PMPs per country I can find in the Net?

I'm sure there's a better way to do this, but you could go to PMI's certification registry (https://certification.pmi.org/registry.aspx) and run a search.

Unfortunately, you have to pick at least one letter from the last name but by doing that, you could do a rough search by country.

Please note that this only lists people who have authorized their information to be published in the registry.

For example, if I search for individuals whose last name starts with "A" in Morocco, I find 82 registered.

Dear Eduard
Interesting your question
Thanks for sharing

There are many more people managing projects than PMI certified PMP people

There are certification proposals from other organizations with different methodologies or designations than PMI

The project approach is expected to be increasingly adopted by

If you compare the number of PMI certified people with the number of companies and organizations in the world, you will see that we are a drop of water in the ocean.

Thanks to Rami (who informed me of this), I used the "%" wildcard for the last name field in the PMI Credential registry to find everyone who has a current PMP credential. The total is 632...

It certainly lessons the value of PMP Certification. I'm #6453, not sure what that would be as a % increase....things sure have changed over the years.

This increases the value of the PMP worldwide.

Already we see PMP being a requirement or an asset in ads for jobs and consulting services.

I agree with Luis - the number of project managers globally far outweighs the number of PMP-holders.

This is a sign of greater market penetration due to high demand from organizations. As long as experienced project managers seek the credential, and as long as those who are not experienced are weeded out, something PMI strives to do, it is a good thing.

I agree, I’ve noticed this huge increase in the number of people who got PMP Certified but I also noticed the increased demand from employers for candidates to have the PMP designation so the increased number of certified PMP’s I believe was significantly influenced by the market demand.

Some would say "three minds are better than one" while others would say "too many chefs spoil the stew". In my view, regardless of the number of certification holders (weighed against a growing population and the growing need for projects and project managers), it comes down to the quality of the certification and certification body. And in this case, PMI and the PMP gets an A+
