Can't join webinar bc extension is blocked

How can I use the desktop client to participate in on-demand webinars?

I would like be able to participate in the on-demand webinars but my company's IT department has blocked the installation of the Cisco WebEx extension. Likely due to the fact that it can read data from any website I visit! I have the desktop client so I tried to paste in the numeric part of the webinar URL into the "meeting information" field in the desktop client but it does not work.

How can we do this? Surely I can't be the only one who has this problem.
