I have checked the archives and I don't think there is a discussion on a problem I'm having. I want to create an MS Project master schedule with 3 or 4 sub projects. I have inserted them no problem, but when the sub project is updated they don't update in the master. If I reinsert them the updates are there. Also, when I open the master it doesn't ask if I want to open the sub projects.
It is almost as if it doesn't know they are there.
Any ideas?
Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi Jonathan,
Could be that you haven’t got the ‘Link to project’ check box hatched in you Integrated Master Schedule.
There is no Link to Project in that tab on my version of project which is project 2000. Could this be the problem? Saving Changes...

Jonathan,
Sorry , I didn’t have enough time to go into as much detail as I would have liked this morning.
When you have inserted a project, you then have to highlight/select the summary task of that project (not the Master Schedule). You should then see the option in my previous post... hopefully.
Nope, still no option on that screen. Do I understand you correctly I click on the summary task for the sub project in the master project or in the actual sub project itself? Saving Changes...

Jonathan,
Highlight/select the summary task for the subproject in the Master Schedule.
I still don't get the check box. I'm wondering whether it is because the files are held in a doucment management system not on the local hard disk? I am going to try some experiments with the Help Desk. So frustrating!
Thanks for your help. Saving Changes...
Last word on this. As I suspected, it is the document management system, OpenText, which is the problem. It ias also a known problem requiring a major system upgrade so that's it for now!
