I'm currently involved with a non-profit organization that has a PMO that is fairly well received; but we're looking to step into more of a leadership role.

I'd like to connect with others that have supported this work, or are currently on this journey and share some experiences and strategies that promoted some success.

Thanks,

I've been involved recently with the PMO Value Ring Methodology - You might might to connect with Americo Pinto on LinkedIn as I trust you will benefit a lot from his experiences.

Dear Shawn
Interesting your question
Thanks for sharing

I had the opportunity to volunteer in PMI chapters and organizations that have no relationship with PMI

What is the role of the PMO in this organization?

To lead volunteers I know only one way: to inspire them, set a purpose for our organization, and share that purpose in our conversations.
Lead the way and have a facilitating role to make things happen

Which addresses the topic of leadership in volunteer organizations
I wish you and the leadership team the most success on this journey

Hi Shawn,
Setting a ePMO is a decision that must have the absolute support from the company's board, otherwise it will most probably fall.
I advise you to take that acceptance you already have and start with defining specific goals (measurable as possible) within a time frame: 1 year, for instance. You'll compromise the board and yourself on results. And at least you set a baseline for what you want to get from the PMO during that time.
Also, stay impartial as much as you can. Your goals must promote standard practices and policies to improve productivity, successful deliveries and business strategy execution. And you'll have to shield those interests against others that may arise.
Good luck and let me know your thoughts.
