Hello

I am preparing for PMP exam and planning to give it in mid Feb-2020. As for the preparation, I have already read Head First PMP, 4th edition and have started reading the PMBOK Guide 6th edition. While reading the PMBOK Guide, I found that there are practice questions after each chapter. Following are some of my queries:

1) Can anybody please guide me as to where can I get the best Practice questions.

2) Also, I am planning to read Rita Mulcahy PMP Exam Prep 9th edition (I hope this is the latest one) once I finish PMBOK Guide.

3) I am also planning to sign up for a good online PMP exam simulator once all my reading is done, one month before the scheduled PMP exam. Please suggest the best PMP exam simulator.

4) Also, is it required to read the Agile Practice Guide that comes along with the PMBOK Guide for the exam?

I would like to know from the experts in the community, if I am going the right way in my preparation or not.

Hi Amit, I suggest you start with the practice questions at the end of each chapter of Rita's book. They have a pretty good standard.
I passed my PMP exam this year (above target) and I have shared how I prepared for the exam in my blog:

I am just a volunteer who shares his views with community members

I had the experience of preparing for the certification exam as Amit is doing now

Here in our community there are many project management questions:

To prepare for the certification exam I just studied the PMBOK Guide and asked the questions of an exam simulator

The method I used was:
- Study an area of ??knowledge and then ask exam-like questions for that area of ??knowledge
- Last week I took several exams (200 questions) to better familiarize myself with the type of questions and to gain dexterity to answer the questions.

I am convinced that each member of this community will be able to give you tips on how to prepare for the PMP certification exam.

The important thing is we find our way to pass the exam

Good to know about your preparations.

All study guiders mentioned by you are good source for knowledge.

Please beware of free online questions banks or sources as their quality is poor and candidates gets a false of accomplishment.

Before you sign up for exam simulator you should set an exam date and prepare accordingly. There is one renowned exam simulator which gives you 90 days of validity which i think is more than sufficient even you sign up for the same at the start of your preparations.

Agile practice guide which comes with PMBOK 6 is not mandatory if you are planing to give the exam before 01 July 2020.

Good to know your preparations are going well. I will try to answer your questions below:
- Reading the Agile Guidebook is optional since till the exam pattern is re-set post Dec, it is unlikley that there will be any questions. However, the book is a good read, so you may just want to go through for knowledge sake
- Instead of Rita's Book, you may want to try the book "PMP Exam Prep Simplified: By Andrew Ramdayal"
- The exam simulator from www.eduhubspot.com are very good. In addition you may want to use some PMP Exam App that continuously pop-up questions which you can answer whenever you have time

Below are my 2 cents:

- Go through the PMBOK in details.

- Get Rita Mulcahy's Exam prep book and go through it. It is a very useful resource and will help add to your knowledge and open your eyes on some details that are not mentioned in the PMBOK.

- Do a lot of simulation exams. I recommend two resources:
PM PrepCast
RMC Fast Track

Both resources have questions that mimic the situational exam questions and style. You can chose to concentrate on certain domains, knowledge areas or take a full PMP Exam.
