What did you achieve in 2019 both Professionally and/or Personally ?
As the year comes to an end, and given we are one big community family, it would be interesting to hear about each other’s achievements during the year:

- What did you achieve on a professional level ?
- What did you achieve on a personal level ?
- Did you follow a certain plan you set ?

I will start with myself. On a professional level, in 2019:

1) Professional Development - I attained some of the certifications on my bucket list and exceeded my target:

AgilePM Practitioner, AgilePgM, PfMP, PMI-PBA, Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Agile Analysis Certification (IIBA-AAC), Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB), PMO Value Ring Certified Practitioner (PMO-CP), Professional Scrum Developer (PSD), Professional Scrum Product Owner II (PSPO II)

2) Became a certified Agile and Traditional Project Management Trainer with the International Association of Project Managers

3) Handed over two successful major projects to our client.

4) Volunteered, mostly with PMI, on different functions.

On a Personal Level, long story short, this wasn’t my year at all as I lost my dear Grandmother, and I had my first operation ever which went south so to sum it up, 2019 was a fruitful year Career and Development wise but not on a personal level. I am hoping for a better year in 2020.

Dear Rami
Interesting this your topic
Thanks for sharing

You raised a question:
How can we become certified Agile and Traditional Project Management Trainer with the International Institute of Project Management?

Is there a training course for trainers promoted by PMI?

Is there a trainer training certification at PMI?

I would like to share my achievement on a professional level rather personnel level.

I achieved PMP certification which I wanted since 2018 but eventually got it in August this year.
Secondly, I have started my youtube channel #pmpmastery where I share my knowledge within my niche.
Also, I have enrolled myself on some professional development courses to improve my professional and communication skills.
so I can conclude by saying that this year is far better than past 2-3 years.

Further, in the coming year I want to establish myself as a professional trainer for PMP certification.
wish me all the best.

Hi Rami,
Thank you for posting this question and starting with your own self-reflection. As we get closer to this year's end, it's time to take a "health check" of where we are and where we want to be.
I am very impressed with your achievements and wish you greater success on both personal and professional levels.
Life is never perfect, we all have our set backs, "tests" and challenges, yet we stay focused, optimistic and I can see also that you are results driven.
My condolences for the loss of your grandmother, and hope 2020 will bring you great success on both personal and professional levels.

Thank you for sharing. You are really qualified. I would love to work on a project with you to see how all this expertise works together. You must be a genius of sorts.

Sorry about the personal not going well. Hope no major impacts of the operation gone South.

Is 2020 going better?

That was a typo - I am a certified trainer with the International Association of Project Managers (IAPM).

I did raise a question, you are right but I've noticed you concentrated on asking questions about my achievements (Which is totally fine) but you did not share yours. It would be nice to share as well, if you feel comfortable of course.

I feel sharing with each other in this community will let us know each other better even if it is virtually.

Dear Rami
Thank you for your comment and for the answer to my question.

I am convinced PMI will create a new certification: Training Project Management trainers

I could have designed and created a pilot project and chosen some people to help test, validate and develop this certification.

My curiosity is a result of my belief :-)
I would say professionally, getting a job I love, finally. Personally, hmm, I haven't much time other then study, so I guess completing another year toward my academic goals.

Hello Rami: First of all, I wish for you a wonderful year in 2020 both personally and professionally! You have been a professional source of encouragement to me and so many others on this site. Secondly, thank you for posing this question. It is always a good thing to look back and take a moment to reflect on the prior year. With gratitude, I had a very good year both personally and professionally. 1. Professionally: 2019 was a year of new projects, new responsibilities and new relationships for which I am very grateful. Beyond my normal duties, it was a privilege to attend the PMI Global Symposium in October and the PMO Symposium 2019 in November. INW PMI Chapter meetings were also important to me and I began mentoring a wonderful person in October. We currently meet weekly and it has been such a great experience to encourage someone else on their project management journey. Recently I agreed to share a live webinar on this site in January (on the 7th). Many good things! 2. On a personal level, a new grandson joined our family and we are building a new home - both very exciting and wonderful experiences. I feel humbled and blessed for so many reasons and look back on 2019 with fond memories while looking forward to 2020 with enthusiasm.

Hi Rami -
This year has been active :)

I began a new role as an Agile Coach with a new consulting firm, but still under the PPM umbrella, which I really appreciate. I am gaining experience within a new space, digital marketing, and in a new industry, Life Sciences. It has been amazing and I expect it to continue.

Personally, no achievements with professional development, e.g. no new certifications, but there are plans next year. I have also become more active physically, getting back into running on a semi-regular basis. A bit more difficult in winter, but have made strides in the right direction.

Extracurricular wise, was invited as a guest for this years PMI Global Conference. That was also amazing. Got to meet several community members in person and hang out. Really appreciative of that opportunity.

Happy to report achieved my PSM II today. Woohoo :) Been on my list since last year. Finally put the time into it and got it done.
Rami -

Professionally I achieved my ICP-ACC earlier this year and tried but was unable to achieve the PSM III credential. The latter bothers me in terms of the sunk cost but not the outcome as the feedback I received from the examiner on their evaluation of my answers shows that they don't live in the same delivery reality as I've been living for the past 20+ years.

Once the exam becomes available within the next month, I'm going to take the DALSM exam as the final step to being able to deliver that PMI/DA training in early 2020.

I also consciously decided I will focus on training first and only take on consulting work which is in support of that vs. trying to keep one foot in both camps.

I continued to contribute to the profession between my virtual community involvement here, as one of the volunteer community moderators on PMI's LinkedIn discussion group, my weekly blogging, presenting at ProjectWorld, like you, providing feedback on PMI's brand refresh during the summer, and like Andrew, I volunteered as an expert at the Ask an Expert sessions at PMI's Global Conference and have been busy reviewing draft content as part of Review Team 1 for the Seventh Edition of the PMBOK Guide.

Personally, I turned a half-century in the same year as PMI did :-). I bought a pool table and my game improved dramatically.

2019 wasn't all roses however - I lost a parent, and a few of my close friends suffered the same losses. Like you, on the personal front, I'm looking forward to a better 2020.

Thank you for sharing your 2019 highlights.

Congratulations on your achievements and sorry to hear about the PSM III Exam. I trust you will inspect and adapt then nail the exam soon. I passed PSPO II recently and PSM III is on my radar.

You are a very valuable and key member of this community - Your contributions to this community are outstanding and inspiring.

Sorry to hear about your loss Kiron (R.I.P.) - I also lost my dear Grandmother this year, and I had my first operation ever which went south, it was a horrible experience.

Good Luck with your 2020 Goals - I hope next year will be a great year for you.
