In order to provide more guidance, we'd need to understand which jobs in AU you're applying for...however, I can give some generic views.
If you have your PMP, you're passed the first resume screening hurdle as in the US, the PMP is a desired qualitifaction. A quick search on careerbuilder or monster.com indicate the PMP is desired or required.
If you're pursuing an IT Infrastructure management job in AU, then ITIL will also help establish a common language assuming the technology organization is organized around ITIL principles. After managing a technical infrastructure PMO for several years, I found the ITIL certification helpful as the portfolio of projects grew as the team implemented ITIL services.
Six Sigma is also a worthwhile pursuit as applying DMAIC process to a problem is a project in itself. The pursuit of certifications should always be balanced with the benefit gained in the marketplace.
If you pursue these certifications, you will be successfully adding another tool in your toolkit to help you deliver projects better!
...just make sure you actually apply the training or else the benefit will be diminished.
IPMA Certification is 45years old, and is internationally acclaimed, tried and true. It is a competency based certification, not like some of those that come out of a cracker-jack box as long as you can "test" out of the exam.
I have heard alot of people chatting about the age of accountability in the Project Management sector. asapm is a LinkedIn Professional Group (asapm: American Society for the Advancement of Project Management) presenting a old approach with NEW flavor in regard to how a Project/Program Manager's credentials should be validated. They are leaning more along the lines of heavy validation, 360 Reviews, Certification Sponsorship before handing out a certificate. I am finding it pretty invigorating researching this 45+ year old Project Management Body of Knowledge based out of Europe, but also having a US presence (www.asapm.org).

My second certification was PMI's PMP. I have a lot to say about certifications in a couple of blog posts I wrote. The first I wrote a couple of years ago about the value of IT managers having multiple certifications http://bit.ly/4C27iL . the second is my latest post talking about choosing certifications about which your feel passionate http://bit.ly/K7NUe

Have a look at the job adverts on websites and see what the requirements are. That will hopefully give you an idea of what are the sort-after qualifications and certifications in that part of the world. If you're looking for public sector work, PRINCE2 would be a good bet, but what about studying for a programme management credential like MSP or PgMP? Saving Changes...
