Third party maintenance (TMA)

Hello,
Development teams are reponsible for the development and support phase. After the guarantee/support period the project is maintained by a TMA pool.
we are considering the creation of a TMA pool within the organisation to maintain the development projects after their guarantee period. till now, we have been managing development projects which are rather different from TMA projects.
I would like to know if any of you have any past experience in this type of project. What are the best practices if any.
