Dear Maia

Interesting your question
Thanks for sharing it.

If there are two areas of interest to you: "agile project management its methodologies" and "space operations PM" your research may focus on combining these two areas

Maia,

have you selected a thesis supervisor? Then in what is he or she interested?

There already are a lot of published opinions in agile, also saying there is no agile methodology per se, only frameworks, mindsets, principles. Think this area is widely belief-driven and does not grant itself for a scientific approach.

If you go into space operations PM, indeed there are needs and practices (Musk, Amazon, Chinese, Russians) that are special and even use agile principles. Might be very interesting but specialized.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have already selected the supervisor and he is kind of flexible with my choice. Yes, I am really interested in space operations. I may go to that road.

You may want to contact PMI's research department at [email protected] to find out what areas of research remain lightly explored...

Theory of Constraints and its application for any type of project mainly for those that are based on Agile approches (warning: approaches, not methods). There is an interesting and not to much explored topic. Goldratt take the ideas from Investigation of Operations and I applied them to Agile field exchanging ideas with Goldratt himself before he died time ago. It works. Just my advaice is: the worst thing you can do is to use somethng project management becuase it does not exists. If you go to a serious university it will be not accepted.

You are welcome. Just in case you are confortable with that (being confortable is a key point because it could be beyond your goal that must be to get the getting the magister) it is a topic that will cause a break inside the project management discipline. No matter that, you must not forget your goal/objective and you have to choose the best topic to achive that.
