The problem with finding something you have an interest in is that you are self-limiting your selections. How do you know that there isn't something out there that you would love but have yet to experience? Remember, it is better to love what you do than do what you love.

So what's a person to do? There are techniques to do self-brainstorming. Once you have a list of topics, apply the five whys technique to each one.

We had someone from NASA speak at one of our local PMI events and he also spoke at one of our internal PM events. It was one of the more memorable presentations. For myself, I always thought of NASA and similar groups as the pinnacle of PM, but that is not always the case.
As systems becoming ever more complex and interconnected, I see a need for systems engineering/ systems thinking and project management to be merged into one discipline. They are very similar, but also distinct in many ways, and many engineers become PM's just because of the nature of their education and training. Throw in AI, and I think you could have an interesting thesis paper - AI and systems thinking in complex space projects/ programs.
