Some of them considered that this practice creates a lot of pressure

What is your opinion about this practice?

Dear Luis,
Apologies for my quick reply without giving more details.
I mean you can organize a daily meeting, however the objective should focus on discussing issues faced during the execution of the work not for collecting progress, the idea is to make sure that nothing will block the work
This is my opinion and this work better espcially for construction activities
best regards
hamid
Dear Abdelhamid

Thanks for your comment

How do team members react to these two daily meetings?

In your opinion, is it sustainable in the medium and long term?

Dear Luis,
With regard to the meeting where we can discuss daily issues, this is a quick meeting where team members discuss issues and share solutions/ideas, the meeting can take 30 min and if an issue needs more details this will be subject of seperate meeting depending on issues of course, basically attendees don't get bored at all, people are more confortable as they find necessary support when required,
Progress is discuused on weekly meeting
Best regards
Hamid

Hi Luis Branco, how are you doing?! There are a lot of factors that might affect the general perception of a "Daily Meeting" or "Stand-up Meeting". First it should *not* be a project status meeting, but only a Team member's (people that actually is working on that particular task or tasks) meeting.

Other important thing is that new team members should speak first (to avoid them been pressured by senior team members talk). Also team members must have the discipline to know what they have done yesterday, what they will be doing today and what are the problems they are facing.

And lets not forget about time... It should only take up to 15 min.

Hope that helps.

A Meeting with Some Proper Agenda / Subject / Topic which helps to resolve issue, or clear the holistic picture which helps and improves entire Project team where they are is necessary.

I've seen some of the meeting which doesn't have any agenda or subject but just to show to the management or to impress the Bosses, and in this meeting they don't have any topic is to discuss, Just waste of time and energy of Team. Or having some Refreshment.

So Meeting must be very clear and strict to the Subject /Topic/Agenda to discuss, resolve the issue and at least have some conclusion which clears the entire Project Team.

Ishaan.

Dear ISHAN
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for your opinion.

How long do you think the meetings you referred to take?

Have a predefined agenda on the topics to address?

To better understand, do you want to talk a little more about those meetings you mentioned?

Thank you

Ola Luis!

I see that no one asked you why these people felt a daily meeting creates a lot of pressure.
Were you able to find out why ?

Was the meeting not a focused 15-min standup ?
Was the organizational culture not supportive ?
Were they being expected to be responsible for something which wasn't in their control ?
Were they not able to ask for or receive support ?

Without finding these details, it would be premature to focus only on the daily standup practice.

Projects depend on people and project managers must be able to lead projects by supporting the people/team. The leadership dimension is often neglected in favor of technical points, which may not be beneficial for the project or the team.

Dear Maloy
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for sharing your pertinent questions.

We agree with: "Projects depend on people and project managers must be able to lead projects by supporting the people / team"

The meetings are held standing and have a duration of 15 min.

The objectives and processes used for your weekly meetings are identical to those of a daily meeting:
1: What did you accomplish since the last meeting?
2: What are you working on until the next meeting?
3: What is getting in your way or keeping you from doing your job?

These meetings are part of the organizational culture and I am convinced that they are not responsible for anything that happens that is not under their control.

Despite that ...

Some of them considered that this practice creates a lot of pressure

What is your opinion about this practice?

If you're going to do a daily meeting make sure there is a crystal clear reason for doing so, keep them as short as possible, and do them where everyone is literally standing up; no chairs.

Dear Lonnie
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for your opinion.

Do you consider that the daily meeting should only be held when necessary or, on the contrary, on a daily basis?

What is your opinion about holding the daily meeting (on a daily basis)?

How do team members react to these two daily meetings?

In your opinion, is it sustainable in the medium and long term?
