Mind maps can provided one way of visualizing the elaboration of stakeholder needs and wants over time. Start with the project as a whole and then drill down and elaborate areas of interest. They can also be used as an alternative to a traditional tree chart-based WBS.

Dear Kiron
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for your opinion.

What do you think about this tool and the results you can get from using it?

Mindmaps lends itself to many different applications because of its visual appeal. It is easy to compile, maintain, read and understand. I use it to show dependencies, functional groupings, context, agenda, WBS and relationships to name only a few. But probably my two favorite applications are as presentation outlines and as functional mapping (as a BA).

Mind maps are extremely useful for organizing daily activities, providing productivity gains. You can use them to sequence the chores of a workday or project-specific milestone, for example. Another advantage is in organizing ideas, as explaining difficult times to the team is not always a simple task. A mind map is an excellent tip to illustrate the problems to be solved. After all, designs and colors are often easier to understand and absorb.

Luis -

it depends on the availability of a suitable mind map tool for a given client and how visual-oriented the stakeholders are. Some people learn and digest information better through visual means whereas others prefer lists or other non-visual methods.

abstract
Mindmaps are useful tools when used in Project Management, using brainstorming to assist in the visualization and analysis of possible alternatives for ongoing projects or the relationship with the detailed analytical structure of the project, ie creating a Project Plan, as well as showing how useful it is in defining the scope of the project. As a secondary objective, it presents how to apply Mind Maps in the business environment. The theoretical framework, divided in two parts, introduces the concept of Project Management, from several authors, the second part brings the concepts of Mind Maps, presenting its definition, principles, laws and applications. In the third part shows Mind Maps as a Project Management tool, showing not only the applicability of the tool in the day to day of Project Management but also its importance mainly in the construction and detailing of the analytical structure of the product. It concludes that Mind Map has all the key features to integrate a project manager's tool portfolio to add value in defining and managing project scope, providing a clear, unified, systemic view of the project, with the flexibility to make any necessary adjustments to the project. as well as providing greater involvement of the project team.

I have used when there is value from a visual representation of the data. Type of information, audience, etc.

There are times when used solely for my own collection and organization of information, or for taking an overview to share out with a group to walk them through the narrative behind the organization. I have found that many individuals are visual and gain additional value from seeing a visual depiction rather than bullet points.

Even any kind of drawing, not specifically a mind map, can be super helpful.

Let the creative juices flow!
