It is a privilege for me to be a PMI volunteer for the third year in a row.
It was a great opportunity for personal development.

Have you scheduled to volunteer in 2020?

Luis -

After 20 years, volunteering for PMI is like brushing my teeth or going to the gym - I don't schedule it, I just do it. This year, it will be more of the same:

- Volunteer moderator of the PMI LinkedIn discussion group
- Providing feedback as part of the Review 1 team for the PMBOK Guide, Seventh Edition
- Virtually helping practitioners globally through this and other communities through answers, blog articles, webinars and in-person presentations

Dear Kiron
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for your opinion.

Your example is inspiring.
How many of us members of this community are volunteering at PMI?

The path of volunteering at PMI is made by walking

For people who are taking the first steps it is critical to commit volunteering time on their agenda

Then it's like going to the gym

Kiron’s feedback is spot on. Just like this community, volunteering with PMI became my norm. This is my 4th consecutive year volunteering in different activities.

I don’t schedule those activities, I just engage with them as they come.

Cheers

Dear Rami
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for your opinion.

As these volunteer activities (here at ProjectManagement.com, in chapters, with PMIEF or or other PMI activities) consume some, from our time we might want to reflect on:
- How important is volunteering in my life?
- What is my purpose in embracing PMI volunteering
- How long will I spend on these activities?

I have been volunteering with PMI for over ten years now. Every volunteering opportunity is a chance to see another part of PMI in action.

This year I had the chance to bring my Toastmasters experience to help presenters prepare for the 2019 PMI Global Conference. It is always nice to meet members of our large family and play a small part in helping such a big event.

What insight did you glean with your 2019 volunteering?

Dear Stephane
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for sharing with us the activities you developed in 2019.

I integrated multiple teams that designed and implemented the products / projects whose purpose was to disseminate PMI and best practices in project management.

I lived and worked with several people which allowed me to grow as a person and as a professional

Have you scheduled to volunteer in 2020?

I'm like Kiron, Luis: I don't have to schedule it, it will happen. I just don't know what it will be until VRMS tells me.

Hello Luis: giving back to our community is so important! This year I'll continue reviewing articles for the PMI Volunteer Standards team and on January 7 I'll be sharing a LIVE webinar on workplace bullying. Every time I think I am giving back, I learn so much! Even sharing on these discussion boards is another valuable way to "volunteer". By putting ourselves out there to discuss, learn and support one another is a win/win for us all. I am so proud of you and others for all you do to give back to your community! Thank you!

Dear Lori
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for your opinion.

We agree that giving back to our community is so important!

It will be a privilege for me to watch your webinar. I have already signed up.

I often read carefully what it publishes as well as its contribution to the reflection of the issues.

Thank you for being an inspiring person
