I am interested to hear about the success stories and lessons learned from adopting the Agile - Scrum model for large IT enterprise dev projects. Any best practices, tips/tricks, tools, and any other useful info you can share?

Thank you so much in advance for sharing your thoughts!

Steve -

for DA, I'd suggest Scott & Mark's book "Choose Your WoW!" or the resources available on: https://www.disciplinedagiledelivery.com/ & https://disciplinedagileconsortium.org/

I don't have a success story, but some possible lessons learned.

I wasn't part of the initiative, but I was affected by it because it grew so large that it started affecting other teams, including mine.

Focus on one MVP. There were multiple teams working on supposedly different things, but there were dependencies and resource conflicts. One of the conflicts was the testing environment(s). The more teams you have developing, the more system resources you need for code branches. Load testing? Regression Testing? User Acceptance Testing? Which version is being tested this week? It took months for anything to be delivered.

Look at scaling models for Scrum (Scrum@Scale, SAFe, etc). The Scrum Guide covers how to run Scrum at the Team level, not the Organizational level.

Have enough UX people so that developers aren't waiting to develop code, or getting impatient and developing without UX and then having to rework their code once UX is ready.

Make sure your Product Owners are trained AND empowered to be Product Owners.

Recognize that enterprise dev projects can be part of larger business initiatives that are not following Scrum practices, and may not be able to. Developers can still follow Scrum practices, but you may not be able to "go live" until the business is ready.

Searching through my library of "stuff" I came across some material written by Robert K. Wysocki - An Adaptive Agile Framework for Delivering Business Value. If anyone has heard of him or has experience with his Adaptive Complex Project Framework I'd like to hear about your opinion on his work.
