Hi everyone. I am new to this forum but i find the info here very valuable. I just have a question.

how do we know that in what level our organization is regarding CMMI. i know that appraisal is the way to go but is there any sample questions which can help us determine the capability maturity based on the given answers?

for example a sample way which based on that we can know in which level we are?

this is very very important for me and any help is really appreciated.

Hi Ali

Hope this answer would help you. To arrive at the answer for your questions, you should know all the KPIs of CMM. Hope if you could do that, then you will arrive at the answers that you are expecting. Few of group members will help you further in this.

Hi Gomathi

Krishna Kishore says that:
Initially you should set up a process each function and the process that is set should be aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Once these are set then drill down objectives to individuals to their objectives. More over, this can be discussed with QA Consltant.

Most of your questions are surrounding about the knowledge of the organization. If your organization is sparing a QA, it is advised to have one QA for overall organization. I would request you to access the url given below to have more clarity on various quality models.

Ali St ,
I wouldlike to remind you a chinese proverb ;

" If you donot know where to go, then any road is okay for you"

A famous english saying" If I donot know where I am,then the best map cannot helpme in reaching my destination"

To find what is required to be done , we need to measure our current practices however mis-organised they are. with respect to the CMMI Version 1.2 .

This reference manual is available inteh seicmmi web site, one can read and interpret and see the difference or hire any consultant to help you measureing the gap analysis.

This is the grass root level measurement before we strategise to implement the level of CMMI.

Hi Ali,

You can get all the relevant information in QAIINDIA website. Those people are providing the CMM certifications to the organization.

Thanks.

Hi ! Ali

Good question . CMMI -Dev -V1.2 has 5 levels.
You can decide on which model you company would prefer, either staged representations or Continuous Representations.

Your question is about the initial Gap analysis of your existing process in comparison with the level of CMMI, your company would like to prefer.

All the questions will be relevent to the specific practics and generic pratices , please do not spend time in preparing the answers , the LA will assess your performance based on the work you do day-to day in line with CMMI -level prefered by your company.

you should be conversant with the process areas of the relevant model

Regards
Francis

Truthfully, if you are asking the question, then yhe organization is probably at level 1. Sort of like acknowledging there is a problem before going about fixing it.
