Dear All,
Some of you may have achieved the PMI - ACP certification.
Reading on the internet , I found out that :-
1) One of the advantages of PMI-ACP over CSM is that PMI-ACP tends to cover different agile practices like Lean , Kanban, XP, Scrum , DSDM whereas CSM only concentrates on Scrum.
2) PMI-ACP equips the PM to lead projects in any field - eg construction or manufacturing as opposed to purely managing Software related projects as a CSM .
What are your thoughts regarding PMI-ACP? and is it worth pursuing ? Saving Changes...
I have a question. I’ve read all the comments on ACP. I have completed the 21 hour requirement, have my PMP and had started the study preparation using Mike Griffith’s book. In my current PM position for an EPC firm in the nuclear industry, do you think having the ACP would help in a fully entrenched waterfall environment? My ACP pursuit was primarily for marketability purposes.

An agile mindset applies to all types of work and certain agile practices may be portable to your industry but before going for the ACP you will need sufficient hands-on valid agile experience which you may not get in a purely waterfall environment.

When I take a certification I take it from the same reason than you. I had the opportunity to work in the same domain than you and I applied agile approach by applying some methods and some practices. Agile is not about a method. But, the ACP is method oriented and software oriented then perhaps it could help to take some self trainning on that and find opportunities to apply it. Saving Changes...

I certainly agree with Kiron. To be honest, not sure that doing professional development for the marketability purposes will help. Yes, it might get you an interview but what then ? Experience is another major factor in proving your marketability is sound.

i just passed the PMI-ACP exam. It was my 2019 goal. I've done the SCM and planning to do PSM in January. The ACP put's you in the different roles, executive, Product Owner, Scrum Master, Coach and team member.
Adding the frameworks, tools and techniques.
Its a different mindset so its hard to the people doing "traditional" project management.
I learned so much, but still so much to get acquainted. I'm really grateful to make part of this extraordinary community
