If an egg is broken by an external force, life ends.
If an egg is broken by an inner force, life begins.

GREAT THINGS ALWAYS BEGIN FROM OUR INSIDE

What teachings can we draw from this reflection?

How can we apply them to the management (leadership) of our teams?

Inspiration comes from without, motivation grows from within.

If we try to (over) motivate our team members, we will likely snuff out their motivation.

You may have other interpretations than this: "If we try to motivate our team members, we will likely snuff out their motivation"?

Another example of the "life begins" side of the story is when a PM takes the time to understand what personal development objectives a team member has and finds a way to align the work that team member does with those objectives. In that way, the "life" which begins might be a new role or career path for the team member.

Luis,

A project manager must be guided by empathetic principles if they wish to understand that which is within a team member. With empathy as a base, the PM can then use coaching styles to help individual team members “break their egg from the inside.”

Most definitely. Just as a sculpter can see the work of art hidden within a shapeless rock, a leader can see the talents within a team member and help them to discover their true calling or potential.
