First Time PMO Management - Tips, tricks, resources

Hello everyone! I accepted a promotion as a PMO Manager this week.... Just wanted to reach out and see if there were any tips, tricks, or resources (webinars?) here that anybody would like to offer.

There is an existing "larger" PMO but there was a recent re-organization and the team I am leading is new as a part of this, and will be responsible for providing some processes/tools to the larger PMO organization within the business area. I have some other specific topics on this I will be posting related to initiatives.

Much good advice on the web (including my own on slideshare, built my first PMO in 1995 and ran it for 5 years), LinkedIn groups, specialist consultants, methods.

The best is to know about much of this and adapt to what the real situation is.

If your PMO was setup to solve a particular problem, it is OK to dissolve it after the problem is solved or the requesting sponsor is no longer interested - do not try to become immortal (many PMOs fade away after 2 years).

Good tip as well... I laid out some goals with my boss and he also agreed that if/once all goals are accomplished it would be a success story if the specific PMO team I am taking over would no longer be needed and could be disbanded.
