Dear all
As a procuring organization, we need to purchase an industrial equipment.
The problem is that we do not have the historical cost database of similar equipments of the previous projects to perform the independent cost estimate of this equipment.
Is the expert judgment sufficient to give an estimate range.
I thank you in advance for sharing your views.

Dear Abdelkader
Interesting your question
Thanks for sharing

In such a situation, I would consult with similar equipment vendors and then do a cost-benefit analysis before making any decisions.

Dear Abdelkader,
I do agree with Luis. Besides, I would conduct a break-even point analysis, i.e., to arrive at a decision - purchase or lease.

Dear Abdelkader,

Consult with multiple vendor's for same equipment & do CBA. After that go for procurement strategies.

You could issue RFIs (request for information) to multiple vendors, as was stated before. You need to do a market analysis to identify vendors and establish a SOW (statement of work) to be sure to ask for the right stuff.

You could also hire a consultant to help you with market insights, independent price review and possible quality assurance.
