The PMI is offering an opportunity for people to be pioneer test pilot for the new exam change coming up in 2020.
Knowing that the current PMBOK6 covers 5 domains while the new exam outline stipulates 3, the handbook and other documents too may have to comply.
My challenge and question is; will the PMI offer exam takes a new guide and handbook to prepare for the new exam or will the PMBOK6 still be relevant for the new exam?

The breakdown of the domains down to 3 makes a lot of sense. Although, I think it should be: People, Process, Organization (instead of Business Environment).

This is proposed by people with IT mindset. I have been in IT for over 35 years- obtained my Bachelor degree in Computer Science in 1972, and have been working in IT at major private, public and academic sectors in Canada and USA- and always mentioned about optimizing the utilization of IT resources-People, Process and Technology. (Check out my book published in 2004-Integrated IT Project Management and my other book on IT Performance Management in 2016 ). These PMI advocates did not want to be too much "Technology" biased, so replaced Technology with Business Environment...so obvious..
Testing professional knowledge on Product, Project, Performance, Productivity should be based on understanding the Project/Product/Performance delivery life cycle not resource utilization. Understanding a company product/service life cycle is the key to optimizing the utilization of the resources-people, process, technology/materials, data/information and financials.
So what about the Construction, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other industries? whose performance model is based on understanding the product/service life cycle. The foundation to understanding any framework or models is understanding the interactions between "Nouns (contents) and "Verbs (actions)"' -- cannot understanding the logic of changing from a framework/model based to a resource-based on People, Process and Environment experiences. (subjectivity based).
Ok- The Robot as Project Manager with be the future of Project Management with AI algorithm and sensors using human generated intelligence - so traditional frameworks/models may not be relevant-I guess this may be the thinking of these PMI advocates who promoted these changes- We will just have to wait and see how PMBOKV7 will look like or they may not be any PMBOKV7? . PMI Exams may be based on Images, Cartoons, etc. - can be very confusing for people with different cultures. Anyhow, some very interesting changes ahead of PMI Project Management Professional Certification examinations-hope its for the betterment of present and potential professionals in most industries that depend on Project Management expertise to optimize the utilization of Resources.

They clearly mentions on the pilot exam instructions that you have to use resources mentioned by PMI on their website and that PMBOK is not the only resource.
Check the link Kiron provided.

I would like to be part of the pilot phase and being a newcomer how do I fill the application form for eligibility? I have taken my company internal online training and gone through PMBOK 6.
