To get the profit you need to manage all the rest. Safety is most important. It can ruin everything else.

Dear Moloy
Interesting your question and the 4 possible answers you put

How about sharing your answer and the reasons that led you to choose that answer?

Moloy -

If you use the definition of quality as meeting the requirements for all stakeholders then safety is just another set of requirements.

Profit is important but can't be at the cost of quality as your short term gains would be wiped out by much higher costs of poor quality.

That is part of the organizational strategy and it will depends on the initiatives to put that strategy into action. I can give here examples from my personal experience taken from the domain you are asking for where I manage simultaneous projects with different objectives from the list you share. And by the way, as @Kiron stated, Safety is a non-functional requirement that usually belongs to quality. No matter that, I can accept if you say me that in your case you manage it in other way, obviously.

Moloy, what are your particular thoughts on your scenario?

Although, I am not in construction, can certainly highlight the importance of quality and its impact on other factors. Additionally, we typically see quality as the fourth piece of the triangle.

Is the answer specific to the industry? Does it have to be?

I definitely agree with Vladimir. His response is spot on !

On construction jobs, we always used to have banners saying: Safety First !

Let me explain to you the rational:

Safety means the safety of the workforce, clean site, proper hazardous free walkways, proper use of protective personal equipment like safety shoes, helmets, googles, and others as necessary.

If you don’t have a safe site, things can get messy, you might have injuries which could affect your schedule and safety record, the quality will decrease as well so if I have to rank those items you presented, I would say:

1) Safety
2) Quality
3) Schedule
4) Profit

Hi Moloy,

I would agree with Vladimir & Rami. Safety is Crucial in construction domain. If serious injuries or fatal accidents keep repeating then it would hamper the image of organisation and also Investors wouldn’t show any interest in your project.
