What is the scope of CBAP in the project management profession. At times I feel that I am lacking in documenting the requirements and not able to communicate in business language. Too much PMBOK terminology sometimes backfires. Please suggest.

CBAP is a certification, not a set of competencies. If you are finding yourself managing projects where you don't have a BA or similar role working with you, then you may want to take a foundational course in business analysis but like most learning, only 10% of the development will come from a course. The rest will come from hands-on experience and support from experienced BAs.

You may also want to increase your learning of your specific business domain. Job shadowing, mentorship or industry-specific journals, conferences and courses would help with that.

As @Kiron mentioned CBAP is a certification. Requirments on the other side is a huge field but something that could help is the two worlds on requirements: product/solution requirements which is in the field of business analysis and project requirements which is in the field of project management. From the first the second must be defined. You need to understand what side are you.

If your job includes doing business analysis, then CBAP, is a good certification to pursue or PMI-PBA as another option.
