Is there any value added to having both the CAPM and the PMP Certifications?

Like others said here, CAPM is a great option if you don't have the experience to sit for the PMP. I have seen it listed in some job requirements (although PMP is still the gold standard). It can likely help you land the job to get you the extra experience to sit for the PMP.

Honestly, once though you have enough experience to sit for the PMP do it and let the CAPM lapse, because no one will expect you to keep that current if you already have a PMP.
Thanks for replying. This question is now old business. I’m happy to announce that I have passed the PMP back on Feb 11th this year.

If you have the CAPM, meet the requirements for the PMP, do I wait until its closer to expiration to take the PMP or just go ahead and take it now? My CAPM is good thru June 2023.
Monica,

I would get the PMP sooner, the CAPM exam preparation is fresher and the PMP exam will evolve.

I would pursue the CAPM only if you currently do not have the experience for the PMP.
