How do you encourage your project team members on having a bright 2020 start?
If you think this carefully, it's an important task... you'll always have to battle with the ones that only see the half-empty glass... Saving Changes...
I'd suggest it starts with reinforcing the purpose behind the project(s) they are on - what value will those bring the company and them.
I'd also offer that it might be worth understanding what their personal goals are for 2020 and challenging them to define those if they haven't done so.
Finally, I'd make sure that I was setting the right example by appearing optimistic and looking forward rather than (visibly) being in a post-holidays funk.

Optimism! Let your optimism rub off on others. Be the conduit. Help others as appropriate realize their goals. Help the team be accountable and realize the team goals. Take time to rethink the teams working agreement. Take time to remind the team of some of the areas of improvement accomplished and those that in flight. Saving Changes...
Start with "celebrating" all the big and small accomplishments from last year. Then when the mood is right, have each individual or team set small "quick-hit" goals before laying down a full scale 2020 vision on them. Break that elephant down in smaller and smaller pieces. Saving Changes...

In our organisation the start of the calendar year is the middle of the company’s financial year. In terms of projects we are at the end of pushing to complete as many project in the financial year as possible.
Will start of by picking up the pieces we left to fall in the cracks over the festive season period before going into full swing project execution. People usually come back with renewed energy for the year, that on its own helps a lot. Saving Changes...

When managing a project. #Time is your most precious resource. You can act as if you have more of it than you do, or that it can be allocated anew when needed, but the clock is a harsh mistress and will not suffer your foolishness without punishment. Respect #time, and don’t squander it.

Dear George Interesting your question Thanks for sharing

started with celebrating, motivating, encouraging, making action plan as a whole and sitting goals as specific per staff, I am doing like this. Saving Changes...
I suppose its the difference between starting a new project and starting a new year. Depending how a project progresses team members motivation levels, moral and general happiness and well being can progressive decrease as a project progresses and its up to the project manager to ensure the general well being of the team. At the dawn of a new year and new decade, project mangers could take this opportunity to hit the reset switch with regards the general well being of the team and use it to re-motivate and re-enthuse the project team. Some suggestions are to have an end of year review with each team member and as such closing off that part of their review and starting afresh with new goals and objective and new methods and tools on how to achieve them. Also as a project manger look at what worked and want did not work as a project manager a adopt new ways of doing things and see if you get better results. The most important thing is to maintain momentum with any new ideas, suggestions or approaches that you adopt and have a metric in place to see if they have been successful or not.

My colleagues are correct that our example goes a long way. It's also a good time to renew or rekindle your personal relationships.
By the way, project managers don't see the glass as half-full or half-empty. They see the glass as twice too big. Saving Changes...
