Did you know that PMI has just published the:
"The Standard Practice for Project Estimating - Second Edition focuses on providing models for the project management profession in both plan-driven and adaptive change-driven (agile) life cycles"
and
"The Standard for Earned Value Management is an update and expansion upon PMI's reference, The Standard Practice for Earned Value Management — Second Edition" Saving Changes...

I was part of both. When you work on the group, I encourage people to do that because is a very usefull experience, you work in democracy then some parts you wrote or some objections/suggestions you made then are not accepted, which is good for me. With that said, my feelings about EVM is the standard lack of lot of work done to use EVM in Agile environments and mainly related to Earned Schedule Management. I tried to push for the inclusion (as others) but it was rejected. About the Estimation I am confortable mainly because methods that can be used into Agile based environments have been included and the whole standard is "agnostic" or not tied to methods/frameworks. And I am happy that Cone of Uncertainty has been included not matter in a "customized" version (jejejeje). I think the estimation standard deserves to be read and understand. Saving Changes...

Did you read PMNetwork this month?
What is your opinion about the forecasts for 2020?
Dear Sergio
Thank you for your reasoned opinion and for sharing it with us.
I already downloaded and I think you will soon read both standards

One of the reasons I participated in the group of authors/reviewers is for not reading them...jejejeje. To be honest, most of the people find no value in reading them and I guess I understand why. I think in the future the PMI has to understand that there is not needed to maintain the standards except for the foundational perhaps.

Luis -
I'm still "old school" when it comes to PM Network - I prefer to wait for my paper copy to show up and that usually happens 2-3 weeks into the month.

Thanks for the info.
I was aware of both of standards and there was a Final Exposure draft review announcement published on pm.com inviting members to review and comment but I had a lot of personal issues going on at that time and did not participate. However, in 2019, I did participate in the review of two practice standards:
1) Practice Standard for Scheduling
2) Practice Standard for Work Breakdown Structure
Both were published in 2019 and it feels great to see your name in those standards as part of the Final Exposure Draft reviewers team.
I know Sergio and Kiron both participated in the review of multiple standards too.
