Hi all, who uses MS Teams for your projects, and if so what do you use/find useful? We seem to be getting an evaluation version of it soon.
Also, all my projects involve an external supplier (or 2) but they will not be able to access the Teams platform as it is internal only. Has anyone else encountered this, and how did you deal with it? Saving Changes...

We use MS Teams for our projects. One of the reasons is exactly the oppositte you stated: because external providers can access it. We use it to create a collaborative environment and it works for us. Saving Changes...
It comes down to the setup of MS Teams - if you have a single tenant version of it then collaboration with external parties may not be feasible but otherwise, there shouldn't be any restrictions.
We switched from Slack to MS Teams - each has their advantages. Teams benefits from the tight integration with other MS applications whereas Slack has a much cleaner interface and a much large ecosystem of add-ons.
Both will get the job done - the harder task is getting team members to use such tools effectively!
I really enjoyed working with MS Teams, in my teams decreased the number of meetings and improved collaboration.
Also, working with vendors that had Office 365 allow them the possibility to collaborate.
The biggest challenge was to engage some team members to use it, however we created a channel called "fun stuff", and the team members started to share there events happening in the city, promotions for outdoors activities, and was how we engaged them.
My only pain point is that we can't do a private channel. If the group is private all is private and if is public all channels are public. Will be great to have a group and allow having private channels for confidential info related to the project, as vendor invoices and other sensitive information. Saving Changes...

We are phasing out of Skype for Business to MS Teams. Both are Microsoft products so the transition has been seamless in that meetings for collaboration can be scheduled from Outlook. We use this for our business partners who are external to our system, but need to see what we see during our meetings.

You can do that because outlook includes a Team pluging. We do that. We made the same transition to use two tools: Teams and Zoom.

We just recently phased out from Skye for Business to MS Teams. However, and frankly speaking, I don't like it as much. Skye for Business was a lot better, at least for me and it could be because I am not yet used to it and all its functions.

My organization uses MS Teams, we have phased out of Skype for business. We use it mainly for Conference/Video calling internally, however it does work externally. There is a web version of the software that external users can use, however the link doesn't work in all email platforms. I have had problems with some of my international customers using Teams, some countries don't permit access or their particular place of business will not allow the platform. But other than that it has been better than Skype and Zoom.

For calls I prefer zoom. Saving Changes...

One thing for PMs to beware of in Teams, Slack, or similar platforms, is the tendency for communication to get lost in a growing number of informal IM conversations or more organized channels. The tools offer a great way to tailor your audience when you want to communicate, but as more and more people create unique places for specific audiences, the messages (and potentially documents) will be lost in a sea of communication channels.
I'd recommend as a PM that you have one or two channels per project at most. When they invariably begin to multiply, ignore the new channels so that other project members learn to use the designated channels. Saving Changes...
