Sounds like you need to come up to speed. I'd have a team meeting, find out if the work is scoped out and scheduled. Also ask the team, where you can help them. It will help to get you incorporated into the team structure.

Extracting data from a system is usually only the firt step of a process, what is going to happen to the extracted data? This is very important as it will determine the rules around the extraction.
First step is you need to understand the scope of your project, and how it relates to other projects. Very important is finding out the business/data requirements of where the data is to end up.
Then discuss these with the extract developers and come up with a work breakdown structure.
You also need to consider how and who will handle any data quality issues that come up because I have never worked on a data extraction where there wasn't any data quality issues.

I am sure you will follow the framework described in PMBOK!
If you are sure about the available days for part time jobs, I dont think there will be any challenges in task assignment.
If you are not sure of the availability days for part time resources, it is going to be the real challenge!
