Hi,
I have created a blended development model (traditional + agile) for our teams in my company. Basically the development phase has been divided into iterations, each iteration ensures analysis+design+code+UT+int test+Fn Test+documentation+acceptance test.
I am struggling with the following:-
Is there a tracking tool to monitor the iteration progress?
There are some free tools available on the net. I downloaded sprintometer. But the reporting is only limited to an iteration. I wish the tool is able to provide the velocity information, run charts across the iterations.

Have your looked at RallyDev?
They even offer a community edition that lets you test drive the software and manage a full project using their tools.
I did sign-up on the RallyDev.Com. After an hour of trial and error, I could log in to the web based tool. Is'st there a downloadable version (community license)?
I do not think web based version will be something that my company would want.
As for the process model for the blended (Waterfall/Agile) I will upload the ppt deck in a while. Please provide your comments on the deck, when you get a chance.
Really appreciate it.
SO far I have liked the concept of Agile ... I have great enthusiam that this is the remedy for the dev ills (lack of planning, technical debts..)
But need a free tool to manage my dev and do some project mgmt activities using the tool
WIll come back shortly
Thanks

Hi -
I've used RallyDev successfully and I've played with VersionOne.
The reason I suggested these tools was primarily due to the distributed nature of project teams. These software tools work well from a collaboration perspective because teams can still adopt agile and be in a distributed environment.
If your team is co-located, you might want to consider a no-tech approach and use index cards and a whiteboard to manage the product log. A great company called Menlo (www.menloinnovations.com) is a software company that uses a low-tech approach to their methodology. It is all index card and paper sheet driven. It works well and they deliver weekly releases to their customers.
I'd be interested in seeing your presentation and would be happy to provide comments. You can also send it to [email protected]
