Habit #1: Be Proactive (You’re in Charge)
Habit #2: Begin With the End in Mind (Have a Plan)
Habit #3: Put First Things First (Work First, Then Play)
Here are a few suggestions on how you can be more proactive with your projects today:

Are you waiting for someone to provide info, answer a question, or give a status report? Make a point to follow up with them today.
Did someone tell you that a deliverable would be ready at some date in the near future? Trust—but verify—that the date is still accurate today to ensure there are no changes to the schedule.
At the start of your project, record the items that typically hold up the project or otherwise provide difficulty. Initiate communication with your team on how these items can be mitigated before they come up...

Dear Luis, In my view you are partly right. However what Steven Covey illustrates and Daniel Goleman's EI/EQ are slightly different. Some aspects of 7 habits of highly effective people may fall under IQ category. Having said that if you possess all those 7 habits, you tend to be having high EI/EQ. But the converse is not entirely. That means if you are balanced person (IQ=EQ) or possessing high EI/EQ, it does not mean you possess all those good 7 habits of highly effective people. I have come across several emotionally intelligent people who could not become successful as they were not able to balance that with IQ. Their emotions have brought them especially handling critical project situations. That made me to believe that you need to have a right balance of IQ and EQ to become successful.

I am an ardent follower and still refer Steven Covey's book once every six months as it really explains how you can become efficient. I also passionately followed Mr. Daniel Goleman and built EI/EQ over last 10 years, especially balanced my IQ and EQ in a right manner. EI/EQ has made me to excel in what I do. EI/EQ make you to become more empathetic and practical. It really brought out the five aspects of my personality or character to excel.

Dear Suneel
Thank you for participating in this reflection and for your opinion

All habits of private and public victories are in the domain of the elements of Emotional Intelligence

I also frequently read the 7 habits of highly effective people and, every time I do, I have a new perspective on their practice
