Has anyone every heard or implemented sustainability management?
Ure says, “It all comes down to becoming aware of the full and true impact of projects - both in their outcomes and in how they are done.” As a part of monitoring and controlling functions, Ure suggests a sustainability management should be implemented in addition to risk management and communication. Stating, “During the project initiation stage, we should document sustainability objectives, show alignment with the corporate sustainability plan, define appropriate metrics specific to the project and illustrate sustainability practices to be employed throughout the project.”

Hi Jacqueline,
The jargon sounds new, but the concept holds true mixed in with PMI Quality Management and Risk Management. "Sustainability Management" seems to be managing the project for the desired benefits, while being cognizant of the project cancellation criteria.
For example, if we were proceeding with this effort to compete in a newer market, to earn an internal rate of return on the capital spend, let's say 14%, and to improve a certain level of our customer's efficiency. If during the implementation, we are not meeting these items, and it becomes obvious, is this a project the organization should continue to invest resources towards?
I think we all do sustainability management to some degree, we just haven't carved it and made it soo transparent.
