Following deep study and extensive practice, I managed to pass my PMI-RMP. Now, I am PMP, PBA and RMP. Meanwhile, I have business background (Chartered Accountancy) but am in deep love with project management. I studied technical accounting to know the way businesses operate but never had any plan to remain pure finance guy with no holistic view. I have experience of managing business projects and more recently running projects in Aviation domain. What you think should I target, PgMP, Prince2, PMI-SP..., in long-term, to compliment my future vision of advancing my career to more strategic project management/being a guy (CEO, COO) who can run businesses/organizations effectively?

Appreciate expert judgements,

Best;
Azzam

You might consider talking to people in the position you want to be in. In my experience, executives have come from finance, marketing, and sales, for the most part, and were at the Director level, or higher, for several years, first. Having multiple project management certifications wasn't a consideration, unless they needed them to work as a consultant and then focused on business development.

Hi Aziz

Why run other organisations as a COO or CEO? Why not create your own organization called Aziz Inc ?
You have enough skills and experience to become an entrepreneur . Why not start your own accountancy firm? And do Taxes, audits, manage the accounts for other firms? Managing money is a big headache for most companies and you can alleviate that.
start as an independent contractor or with a couple of other colleagues, attract a few businesses , then slowly grow into a company over a span of a few years.

I don't think you need any more qualifications . You are already quite qualified to run your own company.

Thanks Deepesh for catching up my attention to entrepreneurship.I had in mind to initiate a training (certifications, accountancy, even civil and military) company, but lost where to start.

Aziz -

No certification demonstrates strategic capabilities. Only a track record of making good strategic decisions will prove that.

My suggestion would be to explore opportunities to lead programs as those require greater strategic competency than projects. You might also consider whether a shift to portfolio management might be the right choice given that is ALL about strategy.

Dear Aziz
Interesting your question
Thanks for sharing

I remembered the dialogue between Alice and the Cat:
“Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?
The Cheshire Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.
Alice: I don't much care where.
The Cheshire Cat: Then it doesn't much matter which way you go "

I sincerely wish you to discover your purpose
Then it will be easier to define the objectives and draw up plans to achieve those objectives

The certifications you take and / or take may help you achieve your goals
