PMI members should collaborate and lobby Microsoft to make a simple change to MS-Project. How many times a days do you need to compare project plans on multiple screens? A basic function that you can perform in Word, Excel and PowerPoint - but for some reason not on MS-Project??? Saving Changes...

Have you tried Microsoft Project 2019 in the cloud? Saving Changes...
Like Stéphane, this is not a use case I've encountered regularly. The only times I can ever recall having to do this was when there appeared to be a discrepancy between two different versions of the same schedule and I was trying to figure out what those were.
Does the MSP Compare feature (available from 2010 onwards) not meet your needs?
If not, I believe Microsoft does have a user forum where ideas can be submitted to their pipeline so would suggest submitting this idea there. I believe it does have a voting function so if sufficient folks are in support of it that might give it some weighting.
