After a bit of hemming and hawing, I finally relented and submitted my application for Ted Talk speaker for this year's PMI World Congress. Have you considered this opportunity? The deadline is looming. Don't let the chance of a lifetime pass you by.

Stéphane,

Good luck in your quest, certainly you will cause a good impact.
I have neither the reputation, neither the time or financial conditions in the moment to go the United States.
Even that these conditions were not a constrain by a stroke of luck I think that the European thought is not very appreciated in PMI USA conferences, some cultural differences are at opposite poles.
I know that there is Europeans talking there but the majority has already been acculturated.
As project manager for me is so important achieve the goals of the project as the path to get there.

Alexandre,
If you have something to share as a traditional GC speaker or TED, do it, at least challenge yourself and apply!

Related to your comment "think that the European thought is not very appreciated in PMI USA conferences", fully disagree with you, at least with my own experiences (I'm from Spain) and in the beginning, yes, was challenging as a presenter to engage the attendees or ensure that they will overcome my non-american accent, however PMI GC is a professional conference, with people from around the globe, where all the people is there to learn and be more professionals, all people and ideas are respected and the attendees usually are fully engaged with the presenter.

We live in a world of diversity, Alexandre. I go to conferences to hear different opinions, ideas, and people.

I've submitted a proposal for the GC itself - while I've done TED Talks-like presentations (ProjectTalks) before, the topics I want to speak about need more than 20 minutes and require some audience participation.

Hope to meet you in person in Seattle, Stéphane, if we both get selected!

Kiron, more than 18 min isn't a TED, also during the last year, I observed a lot of TEDx & TED with time don't exceeding to 15.

I'm happy that you applied to GC, good luck and let's see if I can go this year.

That's great, Stéphane. I'll leave these types of speeches and talks to the professionals :)
But seriously. That's amazing. I wish you the best of luck. I believe we have a few other members here with serious aspirations to also throw their hat in the ring - Lori, Mayte, Rami, Kiron?
At least at local TEDx events, we have a NDA, where the selected speakers can't post about their speech or selection in their social media or networks until the line up is announced... I will assume that the big TED will do the same, so... I wish all the aspirants to the red dot good luck and hope that you are selected and enjoy the process!

Andrew, they aren't looking for professionals (as you can see on the application form)... maybe you should think about it :)

I've got enough material for a TEDTalk. I'd like to have a little more for a general session.

I just got an email from PMI informing me that they will not be proceeding with my TED Talk idea. All the best to those who are selected.
