Hi,

In Rita's Process Chart Page 182, Book PMP EXAM PREP ( 9th Edition ), under PROJECT CLOSING, it is written " Complete Final Procurement Closure " whereas from other sources and also from PMBOK 6th, Page 499, Section 12.3.3.1. Procurement closing is under " Control Procurement "

Wondering, if it is a type in Rita's book or I am missing the concept here. Can any body explain please ?

Each single procurement/contract is closed using manage procurement process. All procurements have to be closed latest during close project process.

I guess what Rita´s book try to pointed out is you have two type of closing: administrative closing and physical closing. Sometimes the project ends but you can close it just for things like the delay on getting the charges from consulting prople for example. So, in your example, comple final procurement close could be considered inside the administrative closing but the process to close procurement still remains in Control Procurement. I meant, when you will go to close a project you have a checklist about administrative and physical things to take into account to decide if the project can be closed or not. But the process to do that still remains into the knowledge areas where they belongs to.

Dear Jaydip,

My interpretation of it would be that PMBOK is looking at the whole process of procurement and how you control it. As Thomas Walenta stated in his post, all procurement must be closed in the close project stage. That includes taking stock of any delivery's, invoices paid even if you are given a specific number of days to pay within which falls outside the close project timeline. In Rita's book, she is probably looking at the tasks that are required in order to close out procurement in the project closing phase.

Thanks to all.

All good explanation but from Exam point of view, need to choose one and that one will be either right or wrong. No partial credit.

As you know question are situational queations then context is needed. From the point of view of the exam you have to execute the process inside control procurement just in case it apply
