"Emphasis has moved from a model in which processes are the main guide for structuring the management of projects, to one that uses an adaptable and proactive mindset, tailored approaches, and collaborative leadership styles to achieve optimal results, quality, and value"
Exposure draft-The standard of project management, 7th edition, line 270 -- 273
The above phrase explains it all about the new vision of PMI for the new standard 7th edition, and after reading the exposure draft i can tell that this will be the start of a completely new perspective in one of the most recognized project management certificate in the global market which is the PMP, in order to raise it's knowledge value and to make it usable and applicable for all kinds of project, and if we read the phrase again we will simply catch up that the new mindset is based on the Agile-lean philosophy and way of thinking, so from my point of view it's all about tailoring and this is one of major skills that any PM should have is about selecting and tailoring the different approaches to fit a specific project environment, whether it's a waterfall, Agile or Hybrid (mix of different approaches)

Interesting your question
Thanks for sharing
Is the new era the result of the vertiginous changes that are happening in the world combined with the higher qualifications of the people who execute the projects?

Thanks Luis for sharing your comment,
i believe it's a combination of different factors and each factor leads to the other, if we think about the changes happening around us in the world, the technology which has been now an essential part of all industries, and not only the ICT industries, this lead to the need to hire people with more power skills "or as we say soft skills" besides the core technical skills, and in order to achieve this you need to change the organization mindset at all levels, C-level, middle management, leaders, HR, ..etc,

I think we need to wait for the PMBOK. According to the Standard, I think it is in the wrong direction. I made lot of comments inside the draft justify the reasons obviously. The PMI is following the marketing trying to maintain business. Whith that it is loosing differentiation. Perhaps it is a strategy to get out the business to other weel stablished approaches like IPMA.

Thanks Luis for your comment,
I believe that we all see the new PMBOK from a different perspectives, some including myself see this big change in a very positive way which is needed and inevitable, and this is because of my 15 years experience in the industry where i found the current PMBOK is very rigid and not practical in many occasions especially with a fast and dynamic environment,
some other people thinks that new PMBOK will be loose and not well structured as before which will decrease it's value,
Anyways we have a lot of things to see and observe in the coming days
