Thanks Luis for bringing some awareness to the video and my perspective. PMI is burying their head in the sand. I wish they would have had a town-hall and open discussion before ploughing down this bridge to no-where. I do not believe in hiding the truth because it will all come out eventually. Their real reasons for doing this are not in the profession's best interests. Ignore the stakeholder and say "we know what is best for you and we will force that on you!" Truly sad coming from PMI but then I am not shocked because the people in the offices are not the REAL PMI.....WE are all PMI. I guess time will tell how sensible this was or not. I now have 10 videos with my arguments as to how bad an idea this is IMHO.

Thank you my friend Phill!!!! I am just now seeing your post on this thread and wanted to say you have helped so many of us with your truthful videos. No wonder I, and many others, had so many questions and fears.
You do a great job at keeping us straight!!!

Luis,
My letter to the PMI BoD was passed along to the PMI Standards department. Their response was pretty much a general response. I did get a scheduled WebEx meeting with Dani Ritter, PMI Standards Manager.
During the WebEx we discussed the concerns I raised in my letter to the BoD. I must say it was an open and frank discussion and I appreciated Dani's effort to hold such a discussion.
I must sadly say that neither of us swayed the other's opinion. She is putting faith in letting the process work; e.g., let the Standards Consensus Committee (SCC) reach their decision as to whether the revised draft document should be affirmed or not as the ANSI Standard for Project Management. The SCC's vote is to occur sometime in June.
Hence the effort to hold open discussion as to whether there truly is a broad consensus for affirming the draft standard. My position is there is no broad consensus and a second exposure draft round is warranted.
We will just have to wait and see how all of this plays out.
Dave, I am curious to know if you have reviewed the actual publication and what your thoughts are. Cheers! Saving Changes...

I'm curios - as PMBOK 7 was published for a while now, is anybody actually using it? if so how? Thanks!

You can look for the 'models" portion, you have some academic stuff there. That may have some value.

On the other hand, if we carefully study the knowledge that supports operations management, we will have the opportunity to see that the process approach is here to stay.

Dear George
Very interesting your question
For now I'm reading the PMBOK Guide 7th Edition.
It's a disruptive approach (compared to the 6th edition): from processes to principles and from knowledge areas to performance domains
When it comes to delivering value, I sometimes wonder if project managers were only concerned with outputs rather than outcomes (I don't even know and where or how this idea came about)
Regarding methods, models and artefacts, for now, nothing new Saving Changes...

I feel that the change from the 6th Edition to the 7th Edition is entirely too drastic. I rely heavily upon the structure PMI has taught along with the templates and methods to lead my projects. When I don't know what to do in a project, I rely upon the structure that PMI has taught us. I am disappointed that the change is so extreme and is so agile since lot of companies still use the traditional structure. I currently work for a company that has a hardware and software division that need to work hand in hand. It is difficult to do since the software development is so agile and the hardware development is so traditional. I wish that PMI would teach project managers both and teach us how to effectively bring them together.

Dear Dear
Thank you very much for participating in this reflection and for your opinion.
We live in the world (for some countries and sectors of activity) of the knowledge worker
In this context, the change in the PMBOK Guide seems appropriate.
It is important that people (being aligned with management principles) and knowing the performance domains choose the most appropriate way to deliver value to customers and/or end users.

It's clear that the structure, the "how", has been moved into PMIstandards+. Kiron told us to wait until all the parts unfolded and came together. Now they have.
