I’d have to agree with Andrew. Even if perfection is reached it isn’t lasting because we work in an area of rapid changes. I wouldn’t look for a perfect PM but a more “up to date” one. Organizations are moving into more hybrid methodologies. Thus, having an understanding in of such makes a PM “perfectly up to date” for that client.

Dear Luis,
Its about using a measured approach in order to respond to a situation. It also depends about how many tools you have in your toolbox and not using a hammer when a chisel will do. Tom Peter's approach is about shaping the work environment not bludgeoning it as ripples create waves and one bad response can have ramification further along the line.

Dear Luis,
I have seen first hand how team members chatting at the water cooler have created a gossip environment within an organization that is neither constructive or factual accurate. Ensuring that team members have only time to focus on their job and the project that their assigned to and not time for idle gossip is one of the perks of being a project manager.

I would argue the question before the answer. Perfection is not something that exists in real life. Everyone of us is perfect in their own imperfect way so it tough to answer your question.

Tom Peters make some very good points but that still doesn’t make the PM in a perfect state.

On the one hand it is healthy for team members to live together ... on the other hand, what to do so that the environment is not gossip
In your opinion, how can we achieve that?
