Hi All,

I have got my exam scheduled for early May - Given i can spend 2/2.5 hrs/day on prep i tend to think it should be enough but please advise if you deem it too short.

Secondly, can anyone please recommend how to best start prep in steps order wise? For instance, should i first read the entire PMBok guide and then focus on sample tests+simulators or should both go together by process group?

Thanks for your feedback.

Mine is scheduled in April. I was wondering the very same thing. I subscribed to this thread to see what others say in regards to this. Good luck to you.

Good luck to you as well Bill, how much prep you've done so far and what's your study plan (schedule/material to use) please, i am not sure whether to use PMPrepCast OR RM FastTrack simulators - i'd say its better off using one tool rather mixing things up.

You are in Feb, I think Apr/May is sufficient time enough if you have already done the ground work for the same, by which I mean if you have read either the PmBok or the Rita guide at least once and revised your notes. Do not attempt your mock exams unless you've done so. Also be informed that the exam pattern was to change in Jun as per my last info., pse reconfirm the same with your REP

Regarding the prep hours, it depends on your experience and level of understanding of the material so I believe you are the only one who can answer this question.

As for the prep, from my experience, the best advise I can give to you in terms of study plans and resources is the following: (Provided you are taking the exam before June 30th)

Textbooks: (All)
- PMBOK 6th Edition + Exam Content Outline
- Rita Mulcahy’s PMP Exam 9th

Courses and Simulation Exams:
- RMC Solutions
- PM PrepCast
- PM Star
- Udemy (Joseph Philips)

Either RMC or PM PrepCast for simulation exams is enough. I personally think you don't need both.

Hope this helps - Good Luck !

As I pointed out in a separate discussion, there is value in having two different exam simulators. It's too easy when you have only one exam simulator to remember, rather than understand, the answers.

Dear Adeel
Interesting your question

Thanks for sharing

I think that each one of us should choose the study method that is best suited to his way of learning

I prepared my exam to study by the PMBOK Guide
Studied an area of ??knowledge and, at the end, asked the simulator questions for that area of ??knowledge
When I finished the study of the PMBOK Guide, I started to perform complete exams (4 hours) to gain speed

During my study of the PMBOK Guide I went to receive training in coaching (because I had no idea what it was about)

I wish you success in preparing for the exam and that, at the end, read "PASS"

Thanks Luis - its a good organised approach - we can't leave simulator right until the end.

my rules of thumb is it will take 160-200 hours to prepare for the exam. If you have 10 weeks left, this means 16-20 hours a week.

Rami put a good list of resources, I would add to have a look at
- PMP handbook
- Exam Content outline
- Code of Ethics
