Hi,
Project Risks are turning into Issues now! Seems like most of the project will be effected in terms of on time delivery and compromise on quality. The more this pandemic stays the more it will hurt the project economy.

Hi Nabeel.,

The real issue is that the impact of all this on projet industry cannot be assessed at this time, till the situation is clear.
Lets hope things will get better soon.

Hello Asif: When I first responded to your question, there were no real impacts yet to my projects. At this point, COVID-19 impacts have changed all my healthcare related projects. I continue to move forward, but the progress is incremental right now with healthcare providers rightly focusing on critical needs. These are unprecedented times.

Hi Lori,
Hope you and your loved ones are in best of health and safe.
Yeah I believe the situation became worse, since i first started this thread. My very critical construction project has slowed down to almost a halt, which was schedule to complete this year end. I think we have to apply force majure clause to contract. The cost and time impact will go huge.
I was on vacation and stuck back to my home country, working from home, as the air spaces are closed till control of pandemic situation.

This whole situation is unprecedented and bleak for Project industry, as well as world economy.

lets hope that sooner the humanity will rise from this.

We are being encouraged to tele-work, but that does not translate to physical construction, and should our physical location close, there will be an obvious impact to ongoing construction.
I have noted that many people continue to work at our physical locations, but interactions are more likely to be phone or online.
As the situation continues to develop, I am sure there will be additional impacts.
Hi Julia,
Yes, we are also working form home and In my opinion construction industry projects will suffer more from this pandemic situation as compare to software industry projects.

Dear Asif,

An update from my own home country of Ireland as to how Coronavirus/COVID-19 is effected day to day life.

All public places are closed except outlets for food and Chemists.

Drones are being used in parks, beaches and in streets to ensure people are observing social distancing.

People are not allow to leave a two kilometer zone from their house which is being enforced by random and rolling police checkpoints.

People have in increasing numbers started using face masks and scarfs to cover their face in public area.

Daily traffic is none existent while public transport, airports and ports are still operating as per normal.

These relatively extreme conditions are constantly being monitored and increased according to the numbers of new case of the COVID-19 virus confirmed and death toll as a result.

Daire
Thanks Daire,

This is the case everywhere, almost in every major country right now.
We hope things will get better in period of one to two months.

Christine Flott Director of Project Management| LBMC Franklin, Tn, United States
The organization I'm at is fairly immature when it comes to project management maturity and I've seen a great slowing in appetite to press forward with projects. As an accounting firm, we've also been greatly impacted by adjusted filing deadlines and the CARES act which means our operational teams are needing to make adjustments. As a result, my projects have by in large come to a halt.

Hi Asif,
COVID-19 has impacted my projects tremendously. Almost all my clients - mostly Fortune 500 companies - have cut existing projects and halted any future projects. But as a consulting company we continue to persevere and are doing our best to serve our clients.
