PgMP (Do not mistake for PMP) Question

My application is currently in the process of being reviewed for the Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification. Does the review process always take 30 days or could it take fewer days?

I find it odd that I paid $800 for the panel review to occur. If I fail the panel review I was told I will be reimbursed. I was under the perception that I had already passed the panel review because it was reviewed by someone who provided feedback/suggestions and then it was approved in July 2019. Could this be an oversight? Could it be my application had been reviewed and approved by the panel 07/2019 and then somewhere between 07/2019 and 03/2020 the process changed requiring a duplicate panel review?

Also, has anyone taken the PgMP certification? Can you provide guidance on study material (other than the PMI PgMP course book), including downloadable apps for free PgMP studying/testing? I will NOT be taking a workshop/bootcamp.

I am not sure I got what you meant correctly but normally panel review doesn't occur until exam fees are paid:

1) You submit your application, PMI reviews it and approves it within 3 - 5 Business days (No Fees required).

2) Upon initial approval, it will be valid one year for you to pay.

3) Upon payment, it will go to panel review and will take between 2 - 4 weeks.

4) Following panel review approval, you will have one year to schedule and sit for the exam.

As for getting your money back, I think if you fail the PgMP Panel Review Evaluation, you will only be refunded $375, not all the amount. Please refer to the exam handbook page 17.

Regarding the material, I can't weigh-in much on this as I haven't taken the exam yet but planning on it soon.

You can always call them by phone and speak to a representative from certification department. They are very responsive and helpful.

Thank you, Rami! This was very helpful; especially points 2 and 4. I was concerned about the timing to take the test. I don't expect I will fail the Panel Review because my experience is valid and it took a long time to collect the references and their contact information. I haven't spoken to many of them in years...thank God for LinkedIn!

I will need to continue to dig on the recommended tools for studying. I hope you get through your own exam with flying colors!
