Sometimes situations helps organizations to understand some terms that are buzz words today and learning from those situations to be ready for the future.
Agility was defined in 1990 inside the USA DoD/NSF Agility Forum at Leihigh Unversity like "Be able respond to a wide variety of unexpected external surprises and create external surprises. Being agile will assist businesses who face unpredictable circumstances."
Is a matter of architecture, not a matter of culture, mindset, etc etc while those are key components inside the business architecture (just one of the architectural layers) neither a matter of applying methods/framework, etc, etc Saving Changes...
Thanks for sharing that definition, Sergio! It sounds like what they had called agility back then is what Taleb would refer to as anti-fragility.
Some folks are calling Covid-19 a "black swan". I would disagree as there has been past precedence of such pathogens and, if the origin of the virus is truly from wild animals, then close proximity of different species of wild animals with humans has been known to cause problems.

Well, Taleb wrote the book time after and to be honest, in my personal opinion, they did not write something new, something that people did not have experienced talking about an approach (agile in this case) or not. Asi you stated, we have the SARS not long time ago. My intention was alert about agile and agility is a matter of architecture. In fact, if people search for the forum results (the forum is still active but is not for public domain) then will see that an architectural model was proposed at this time. Time after, people from busagilitymanifesto.org took the basement and created what I think is a very interesting model .
