How are projects dealing with the Coronavirus outbreak? Has your project stopped, temporarily, placed on hold, or suspended indefinitely? Are your projects making arrangements for some team members to work from Home? What has been the overall impact to schedule?

Thanks

Ralph

My current development projects and clients are local in BC, Canada. This did not affect any of my projects yet but precautions are being taken for sure.

There was a recent discussion thread about the same subject:

Hi Tami,

Thanks for providing me with the link to other responses. Unfortunately I did not see the post with the similar questions that I had.

Thanks Again?

A certain portion of my project deliverable will be affected because there's a need for some interstate participants to come to Melbourne for attending some training. There is a temporary restriction on interstate travel at our company "unless absolutely necessary and affecting the business operations".

Although Web Conferencing alleviates such issues , it is more effective to deliver such training face-to-face.
We have not reached a stage yet here in Australia where work-from-home has been necessitated just yet but with winter around the corner , there are concerns that with the "flu season" expected in the next two months , the outbreak may have a more severe effect on the health of people than a normal "flu season" otherwise would.

In our case, as our main subcontractors for Engineering is Korean Company and situated in Korea, Seoul. Due to Coronavirus, Engineering Team of Contractor and Client side temporarily demobilized from Seoul office. Unfortunately, it will impact to engineering phase and slowing down work until may.

In our case, no major impact. The Netherlands has not (yet) been largely impacted - less than 500 cases. People do shake hands less or not at all.

We have not been impacted as of yet, but have been ensuring necessary mitigations are in place to support remote efforts.

No immediate impacts, but we have started to plan for potential virtual delivery of our courses and it is possible that one or more of the conferences I was planning to present at this year will be deferred or cancelled.

The more tangible impact may be the reduction in training budgets for our clients who are experiencing short term revenue impacts.

We've been impacted at SAP Africa and are currently all working from home with offices closed. We're looking at creative ways to continue the momentum on our projects to meet the needs of our customers. We have the same challenges as mentioned in this thread, global travel restrictions impacting on resource availability and the ability to deliver on activities that are typically done face to face, like how to conduct system testing, scoping workshops, knowledge transfer, taking projects live etc. I would love to hear any out of the box and creative suggestions this team may have... I think there's an opportunity for us all to devise methods of working differently in the digital age. Let me know what you think.

This has not impacted our work, at least not on the projects I am working on. My travel is still active, and my projects are moving forward. We are taking extra steps, including reaching out to vendors for their restrictions on travel and determine if we need webex or conference lines for those that cannot travel.

We also have the ability to work from home, so we have seen an increase of this happening around all of our locations, and vendors.

The only thing we can do is be accommodating and understanding of everything happening and work this risk for changes to the project and plan for them.
