When I took the PMP, I already had ten years of experience as project manager and it took me over six months to prepare!

I don't want to underrate your project assistant experience. I suspect you have not had to face the decisions that a project manager has to deal with.

I recommend you take a PMP boot camp to fill in the blanks. You will then need to get exam simulators - at least two different ones. Use the simulators to identify your weaker areas.

if you have not done so already, please download the PMP Handbook from PMI's certification pages (https://www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/...l-handbook.pdf) and read it thoroughly so you understand the prerequisites and overall process.

I am presuming that you have the project experience and the educational qualifications to meet the eligibility criteria for the certification examination.

If you are good with the above, then you will need to attend the mandatory 26 hrs. of Training with a certified trainer. In addition, I will recommend that you get a PMP Study Guide that simplifies the concepts and helps you to get exam ready. Read the guide at least 2 times. As you prepare, use a PMP Questions Bank App (there are many available on Apple/Android Store) that will help refresh your knowledge through random questions that you can practice whenever you have time. Lastly, take at least 2 mock exam sessions which will give you a fair idea on how prepared you are for the test.

I think it's definitely an achievable goal, but it will depend on your available time to study and your learning style. I did it in roughly 7 weeks, with some study breaks in that window, but I had a lot of experience and a couple of business degrees before I started.

I used Joseph Phillips' course on Instructing.com for the education requirement and the Head First PMP book for studying.

You'll likely want to find reputable exams too. Some of the free ones aren't as helpful as the fee-based practice exams.

Good luck.
