COVID-19 - Will PMI give us remote access to pass the PMP exam?

Hello,
With World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11 who declared COVID-19 a pandemicm, and PMI sending notification saying "they are moving to a temporary remote work policy for 30 days (end 12 April). This means that a majority of their staff around the globe will be working from home.", I was thinking about people applying for exams that are scheduled for the next few weeks?
Shouldn't we be allowed to remote sessions to do the tests instead of going to a crowded class/test room ?
Personally, I dont want to postpone my exam, and I guess many other candidates agree with me, so I hope there is a way to do the exam remotely as well... Would PMI create this flexibility ?

It is good question. There are some precautions you can take when you are going outside e.g. use hand sanitizer , mask etc.
Test center can also sanitized the test center by using sanitizer spray.
But your health and safety is first priority. If situation is not under control there , you can postpone the test .
At present the PMP exam is not available for remote, online completion unlike the CAPM (and more recently, PMI-ACP). If that changes it may have more to do with Pearson VUE electing to close their test centers rather than PMI.
As I understand Pearson VUE has asked candidates to reschedule their exams in certain global areas which have been heavily affected by the disease.
PMI does have a team monitoring the situation closely and there have been similar questions posed by multiple REP representatives to PMI on LinkedIn so I'm sure this is something they are considering.

its important for Pearson Vue to be mindful of causing avoidable panic by cancelling and rescheduling the PMI Exams even for areas which are not high risk. I suggest they step up safety measures in these difficult times. A blanket policy to cancel exams is not helpful. PMI need to move quickly to stem potential fall out.

I had the "joy" of taking my PMI-ACP exam online, last month. I appreciated not having to drive four hours to a test centre. On the other hand, do not underestimate the logistical requirements with an online proctored exam. (For example, no one else can come into the room for the duration of the exam.) Saving Changes...

Bring some Clorox wipes and ask the proctor if you can clean the table, keyboard, and mouse before you begin. I dare them to tell you no.
Otherwise, I see no reason why sitting for the exam would significantly increase your risk of exposure or infection.

The only additional challenge might be if fellow exam takers in the room start coughing or sneezing, that might be a much bigger distraction to other candidates that are present given the current situation.
Bring some Clorox wipes and ask the proctor if you can clean the table, keyboard, and mouse before you begin. I dare them to tell you no.

How will they ensure no-one else is in the room with you helping during the exam? How will they ensure you are not in another device searching for the answers? That is why it is proctored.

You have to use your phone or your laptop to show them the room you are in. Your laptop cam and mic stay on for the duration of the exam. At one point, I was told to move my hand away from my face!
This LinkedIn post from PMI (https://www.linkedin.com/posts/sunilprasha...073887236-IIAR) has a response from Sunil Prashara to someone who was asking virtually the same question. His response: "We are assessing options at the moment. Stay tuned."
The big challenge for PMI will be that with the high volume of PMP candidates (especially as we get closer to the exam change date), they may not have sufficient folks lined up to do remote proctoring.
