COVID-19 - Will PMI give us remote access to pass the PMP exam?

Hello,

With World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11 who declared COVID-19 a pandemicm, and PMI sending notification saying "they are moving to a temporary remote work policy for 30 days (end 12 April). This means that a majority of their staff around the globe will be working from home.", I was thinking about people applying for exams that are scheduled for the next few weeks?
Shouldn't we be allowed to remote sessions to do the tests instead of going to a crowded class/test room ?

Personally, I dont want to postpone my exam, and I guess many other candidates agree with me, so I hope there is a way to do the exam remotely as well... Would PMI create this flexibility ?

Any thought about that ?

Thanks,
Soha

This is from the Covid -19 Update on the PMI home page.

For candidates who already scheduled the exam but are unable to take it due to health restrictions or delayed with training, PMI will offer you to reschedule your exam and we are willing to extend your exam eligibility period for up to six months. All paid fees will be eligible for a refund and you will be able to reschedule without accruing penalty fees.
Hi Brian,
Can you please share the link where you see this communication from PMI ? Thanks

Soha -

unfortunately this is all PMI has on their website: https://www.pmi.org/about/coronavirus-single-source-message

It has not been updated since March 13 and things have obviously got worse since then, so I'd hope that there would be an update soon as they are getting a lot of "heat" on the PMI REP and other PMI-focused LinkedIn groups.

I finally received my email late last night:

- At first, I still saw the same two options on PMI's site: 'Cancel' or 'Re-Schedule' (the latter still trying to charge the $70 fee)

- After about an hour, I went on PMI's site again. This time, the two aforementioned options were replaced with just 'Schedule your Exam'

- I used that link to re-schedule the exam, as if the first time never happened. I'm now scheduled for April 20...but of course, this could easily change.

Also, an update was posted today on PMI's site. For PMP candidates, the main update is that the current Exam Edition is being extended until December 31.

My test was scheduled on 23/03 and I just received an email from Pearson VUE today asking me to reschedule my exam. It is so disappointing for me as I have studied so hard for the exam.

When I logged in Pearson VUE to reschedule, the date and time I booked is still available . I will also be charged 77usd to change my exam date, which confuses me as I originally dont want to change. I have tried to contact the customer service for an hour and did not manage to meet any agent.

As Australia is not listed as one of the countries affecting in Pearson VUE website at the moment, I was caught by suprised about this.

Is there anybody in the same situation as me?

I had a scheduled exam for March 23, 2020. PearsonVue has canceled exams for the month of March. 1st available exam date is April 29, with no guarantee this date wont be canceled. April 29 is my last day to pass. I get one chance, if not canceled. Additionally, I am being asked to pay a reschedule fee. I have been on hold with PMI for 20 minutes. I cannot get answers. If online proctoring is not available, will extensions be given?
Hi Brian,
It also happened to me. And the strange thing is when I try to reschedule, the date and time I booked still show as available. I plan to call the centre tmr to seek further clarification.

Hi all, I am based in the UK and have my exam scheduled for early May for PMP. It hasn't been cancelled as yet however the country policy on Perason Vue is that all tests are suspended until further notice, so not sure whether to consider my exam cancelled or will it still go ahead as per the plan. Tried connecting with agents at Pearson who never respond to your calls or online chats........Any one has more info on it?

In light of all the exam re-scheduling, I would not be surprised to see PMI delay the introduction of the new PMP exam.
They have extended current exam format until end of 2020. i received a notification email from PMI:

"We are extending access to the current PMP® exam until 31 December 2020 and postponing the launch of the new PMP exam until 2 January 2021"

Hi,
It is good question. There are some precautions you can take when you are going outside e.g. use hand sanitizer , mask etc.
Test center can also sanitized the test center by using sanitizer spray.

But your health and safety is first priority. If situation is not under control there , you can postpone the test .
