What is your opinion regarding the initiative of companies to hire a personal trainer whose mission is to demonstrate physical exercises to be performed by people who work online

These activities are carried out at the beginning of each working day

Nothing like: "Healthy mind in healthy body"

What will be the impact of these types of initiatives on projects?

Perhaps once the pandemic dies down and WFH becomes the exception rather than the rule, more companies will bring in physical exercise programs to help their staff who have been "stress-eating/binging" at home and being unable to do proper workouts lose their extra pounds :-)
Dear Kiron
Thank you for this comment that you shared with us

Nothing will be as before

I am convinced that in these quarantine days:
- Online work tools and platforms will take a quantitative and qualitative leap
- People will adjust the way they work remotely
- Many courses and seminars will be made available online (Coursera is already doing this)

After this isolation many more people will start to work online

What will happen to the remunerations?

Interesting, in this post we are discussing team exercise initiatives with possible corporate support. In a different post we are looking at the effectiveness of on-line participation. Here we see the advantage of team building and common activities, in the other we consider the advantages of the lone-wolf (at-home office) participation.Obviously there is room for both. In a project setting we have to look at the risks and benefits of the management models as it applies to our specific projects and mitigate as may be appropriate.
Of course one could combine 'work-at-home' with internet accessible fitness programs. Peliton anyone?

Totally agree. I have worked in an office setting pretty much my entire professional life and am comfortable in that environment. In the last few years I have worked from my home office as an independent. It has been a great experience from self-discipline, becoming familiar with the technology, remote networking, and of course communicating. However I am finding it difficult not having that personal connect, camaraderie, the small talk that keeps everything humming along.

I like this idea. I currently always work out first thing in the morning to get my mind and body going. I also throw in a quick 30 minute session over lunch to skip that late day crash or sluggishness to finish my workday strong. On days I miss this, I notice I am grabbing coffee or some kind of snack to get my through the day more and wanting to just not work. I lose my motivation. I think this is such a great benefit that companies can benefit from by implementing.

Do you feel strongly enough to impose your regime on others? I am not attacking here but just recognize that there are people in positions of authority that do not hesitate to impose their views - "what's good for me is good for everyone".
If your employer or team-lead organized a team exercise program would you consider it an intrusion in your right to do it your way or would you go along with it?

Luis, thank you, for your response.

What are some of the valuable or impactful differences that would be realized by a company organized activity versus an existing option sponsored or reimbursed by the company?
Dear Andrew
When organizing physical exercise sessions, the company shows interest in the health of its employees

The impact of reimbursing the cost is different from organizing sessions

What happens when organizations show interest in us?

Dear Peter
Thank you for sharing your questions with us

Did anyone mention mandatory physical exercise?

But, it occurs to me to ask:
In your opinion, is there a parallel between organizing physical exercise and religious freedom, political freedom (which derive from freedom of thought)?

But ... I was curious to know what you think about:
- Work schedule
- Definition of quantity and quality of work to be performed

If pushing programmed physical activity by the employer for the 'good of the staff' would it also be acceptable to push programmed religious activities using the same rationalization? What about political forums? Where does it stop? Who makes those decisions?

Luis, please read my reply light-heartedly. Of course I am no opposed to voluntary fitness programs. But I spent plenty of time being dragged out of my bunk for mandatory group exercise before dawn. I did my time.
